Day 2 of Wendy and Sunny’s colourful Anglo Indian wedding. Day 1 saw them marry in Ealing Gurdwara. Today is their English ceremony. Wendy is at a hotel in Ealing with her bridesmaids and family. The room is busy and full of people popping in to say hello and to toast her with a glass of champagne. Her wedding dress hangs up and the coral accessories nod to her beautiful peach Indian bridal outfit from yesterday. Coral bridesmaid dresses hang and coral, peach and pink flowers are lined up in a box. Hair and make up is attended to and the room buzzes with excitement. Sunny and his ushers are getting ready in a flat nearby. Bow ties are tied, after shave is sprayed and Sunny looks emotional as he reads a card that Wendy left for him. Both sides make their way to Ealing Town Hall, through the same busy London streets. Sunny waits at the top of the aisle, by an arch of flowers, as guests sit on chairs that are decorated with brightly coloured paper pom poms. Wendy enters with her dad and walks towards Sunny for a second time, for their second wedding ceremony of the weekend. Family members read. They exchange vows and rings. They are finally married, having completed the ceremonies from both of their cultural backgrounds to become husband and wife. They head outside into the bustling London streets for confetti and family wedding photography group pictures. Inside guests enjoy the drinks reception and Indian starters, while people drink beer and pimms. We spend some time taking portraits of Wendy and Sunny against the backdrop of the town hall’s beautiful architecture, before heading outside into the sunshine. Guests make their way to their seats for dinner and Wendy and Sunny make their grand entrance to clapping and cheering. Dinner is served and its followed by emotional and touching speeches. After a few more wedding portraits in the last of West London’s evening sunshine, we make our way back inside and Wendy and Sunny have their first dance. Their guests join them on the dance floor and dance the night away to a mixture of Bhangra and party music.
