Couple hugging in front of Walthamstow graffiti wall

Walthamstow engagement photography.  Keira and Jake’s urban shoot in London.

I lived in Walthamstow for a few years and I’m back there fairly often visiting friends.  It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to photograph there (the last time was the lovely Alex and Gudrun’s Walthamstow and East London wedding) as a result I was excited when Keira and Jake said they wanted to have their engagement shoot in E17.

Keira and Jake are getting married this month and they’re planning a woodland wedding in Sussex.  An afternoon exploring the urban streets of East London was a nice contrast to the countryside celebration they’re looking forward to in a few weeks.

A first meeting, while dressed as pirates

Their first meeting was at a university Halloween party, while dressed as pirates.  10 years later, Jake proposed in Yosemite national park in California. Keira said it was very special and she wasn’t expecting it at all.

Keira’s especially loves Jake’s is his caring and generous nature.  He’s an active bone marrow donor (which is amazing) and doesn’t think twice about the consequences of an invasive hospital procedure to help save a life.  Jake loves Keira’s strength and they’ve been through a lot together.

Exploring Wood Street Walls in Walthamstow, London

I met Keira and Jake just off Wood Street to start their shoot and they wanted to use a couple of the Wood Street Walls as backdrops.

Wood Street Walls is a community art project.  They commission artists to create public artworks in Walthamstow.  The artworks featured in this post are by Remi Rough and The Toasters.

It was really lovely to hang out with Keira and Jake in Walthamstow for the afternoon.  We finished our shoot with a cup of tea in Gods Own Junkyard and a chat about Keira and Jake’s wedding later this month.
