Shifnal Family Photography – A Documentary Family shoot with The Bailey Family
I recently got to hang out with the Bailey family, in Shifnal, Shropshire. Casey Bailey is a writer, educator, performer and the current Birmingham Poet Laureate. I’ve followed Casey on social media for a while, so it was an absolute pleasure to head out to Shropshire to photograph him and his beautiful family at home.
The Baileys left Birmingham to relocate to the country not too long ago. They live in beautiful Shropshire (bit jealous if I’m honest). After our shoot I headed off to explore Ironbridge for the afternoon, including hiking around Ironbridge Gorge, a beautiful Unesco World Heritage site.
The results were amazing!

This meant we could focus on being comfortable in our space and Laura could capture it. The results were amazing!
Shooting at home
I love to start my documentary family shoots at home. I think it’s so special to be able to capture a little slice of your everyday life. It means you can look back and remember it. Things like your favourite book to read together as a family. Or where your small people like to play in the garden.
The Bailey Family’s shoot was no exception and we hung out at their beautiful home for a while. They spent some time reading together as a family, they showed me their garden and I got to check out their lovely playroom.
A favourite spot for a walk
After hanging out at home, we headed to a local spot where the Baileys love to go for a walk. It was really peaceful at the lake and we watched the boats and enjoyed some time in nature.
