Do you know what’s absolutely lovely to see on a wedding day?  A couple that spend the whole day grinning from ear to ear.  It’s hard to say who’s smiling the most out of Stacey and Akosa because they both smiled a LOT and it’s joyous to behold.

Stacey and Akosa’s Northwood House Wedding Photography on the Isle of Wight was captured by the lovely Jessica, our newest Babb Photo associate wedding photographer.  Stacey and Akosa loved working with her and here’s what they had to say:

We found Babb Photo through a wedding blog and we loved the relaxed style of photography. From booking through to post wedding, we could not have been happier with our choice! Jessica and Elyse were incredible on the day – they were fun, professional and organised and had a huge impact towards the smooth running of the day. Nothing was too much to ask – Jessica even helped to arrange the flowers in my hair!  Thank you so much for our beautiful photos, we absolutely love them!!  We had so much fun looking through them and reliving the day!!

The Beginning

We met on the dating website, e harmony in February 2013 and we instantly hit it off! Akosa proposed 2 years later, during a holiday to Porto in Portugal. He had booked a table at a beautiful restaurant which was built into the side of the cliff, the views were incredible. He popped the question as the sun was setting – it was perfect and very romantic!

The Venue and Location

We were having a traditional Nigerian wedding in London, so we thought it would be nice to have the church wedding on the Isle of Wight, where I grew up. We chose West Cowes as everything was so close together and we wanted it to be easy for guests to get from one place to another. We also hoped that people would enjoy having a long weekend away. We loved St Mary’s Church and were so lucky that our reception venue, Northwood House, was so close by! The staff at Northwood House were so flexible and accommodating, which was great as it helped our day to be exactly as we had wanted it to be!

The Outfits

I decided very early on that I wanted a 50s style tea length wedding dress and was so happy when my aunt offered to make it for me! As soon as I saw the Becky Gold shoes by Charlotte Mills. I fell in love with them – the gold sparkly heals and bows were so much fun! We wanted the wedding to be bright and colourful, so the coral bridesmaid dresses from Warehouse were perfect. Akosa and his groomsmen wore blue suits from T.M. Lewin. They loved both the colour and the fit.

The Decor and Styling

We wanted the flowers and table decorations to be bright and fun and we were so lucky to have such amazingly talented friends around us to help out. My friend, Kirsty arranged all of the flowers for the day, incredible seeing as she was 7 months pregnant at the time! She has a great eye for colour and used the images I sent her to choose the flowers. We were so happy with the results! Other close friends made the Ferrero Rocher pineapple centre pieces, which were also our favours and the place names, which tied together the colourful/tropical theme! Another friend, Harriet, made our cake which was delicious and received so many compliments!!

The Ceremony

We had a traditional church service – it was such an amazing feeling, walking into the church and seeing all of our favourite people in there. My brother read from Corinthians and my friend Leanne read a Bob Marley quote. A very special part of the service was when one of my bridesmaid’s, Lydia, played and sang during the signing of the register.

The Entertainment

Jules Nelson, who is based on the Isle of Wight played the guitar and sang during our drinks reception – he created a perfect atmosphere for the start of the reception! We hired a wedding caricaturist, Guy Carter who was a huge hit! Our guests loved taking home drawings of themselves! We had The Magic Tones band play during the evening reception. They were fantastic and kept everyone on the dance floor all night!!

The Words of Wisdom

We would definitely recommend that you take up any offers of help from friends and family. So many people have talents and they love to help and be part of your day. Our day was so special because we had the best team of talented loved ones around us and we can not thank them enough!
