Mekalai and Julian’s Intimate Burgh House wedding
Back in the Autumn, I photographed Mekalai and Julian’s intimate Burgh House wedding. We were in the middle of Covid related restrictions and I know Mekalai and Julian were so, so happy to be able to finally get married. They had planned a much bigger wedding but decided to scale down and marry with their closest family and friends around them.
I’d already photographed several weddings from Mekalai and Julian’s friend group. It was lovely to see familiar faces. It was also really nice to be back at Burgh House again, and to be in London. Especially after such a long, pandemic related break from weddings!
A small but perfectly formed Burgh House wedding
While Mekalai and Julian didn’t get to have their big wedding party, they had their favourite people around them and their wedding celebration was small but perfectly formed. I joined them just before the ceremony started, as their friends and family gathered at Burgh House to celebrate. After a short and sweet wedding ceremony, guests gathered in the courtyard.
After Mekalai and Julian enjoyed a glass of fizz with their guests, I whisked them off for some portraits around the beautiful cobbled streets of Hampstead village. I always think Hampstead is one of the prettiest parts of London. We explored the streets as the day turned to dusk.
Dinner and speeches
After our portraits, Mekalai and Julian joined their guests again and everyone made their way to be seated for dinner. There were lively speeches from Mekalai’s, her dad, the best woman, Julian and the best man. I left them to spend the rest of their evening eating, drinking and celebrating with their guests.
