When Laura and Todd got in touch to say they’d be travelling to Europe from Australia and to ask whether I’d be interested in photographing them either in London or Barcelona I crossed my fingers reallllllyyyyy hard that they’d choose Barcelona. I love London but the chance to escape from the UK winter and head to warmer climates is always welcome, as is the opportunity to photograph a lovely couple in a city I haven’t shot in before.
It ended up being one of my favourite engagement shoots of the year because Laura and Todd were just fab to work with and Barcelona gave us some beautiful backdrops to explore.
Here’s what Laura and Todd had to say about their Destination engagement photography in Barcelona.
Laura & Pete were so great about making us feel comfortable on the day of our shoot and for two people who were nervous about having professional photos taken, they made it easy. We’re not sure how she got such brilliant photos as most of the time we were just talking and laughing to ourselves like it was any other day. By the end of the day it felt like we were just chatting with some new friends, with a few stops for photos thrown in. Our favorite shot of these photos is the one with the views of Barcelona behind us and we will always have the memory of those incredible views in the sunset light which we only saw thanks to the impeccable timing of Laura and one very confused Spanish taxi driver!

The Beginning
We met through mutual friends in 2008, but didn’t know each other very well until one night a few months later when I was working behind the bar at our local pub and every time I looked up Todd was looking in my direction. I got the hint and after that night we decided to get to know each other a bit better.
The proposal
We got engaged on our seven year anniversary, in December 2015. We had purchased my engagement ring together earlier in the year but after that it was up to Todd to choose when we would officially get engaged and it was a surprise for me. After work on the Monday which was our anniversary we went to the beach together with our dog Rahnee, to enjoy the weather and celebrate but he waited until we were at home cooking tea to actually ask me, to really surprise me as he knew I would have expected it to happen at the beach if it was going to be that day.
The engagement photography location
We picked Barcelona because from what we knew of the architecture we thought it would provide some really beautiful backdrops. We were only there on holiday but it was such an amazing place, we’re glad to have some memories documented in what was one of our favorite places of our entire 5 country holiday in Europe.
