It’s Christmas week and I have my Christmas playlist on repeat.  Instead of taking my foot off the proverbial gas and eating an excessive amount of mince pies, I decided I’d share a bunch of Christmassy weddings I’ve never shared before. You should open up my Christmas playlist and listen along, while you check this post out!

From cheesy Christmas films to carol concerts

I love Christmas. Really, really. Really.

I love everything from cheesy Christmas films to carols (my Birmingham choir has done two carol concerts this year, including singing at a home for elderly people, and at the Solihull Christmas market!). From beautiful winter light to twinkly decorations, the Christmas period also makes a beautiful backdrop for a wedding!

A winter wedding in London

Nadim and Gillian’s Christmas London wedding at The Waldorf Hotel London is the first of several Christmas weddings I’m sharing this week. Nadim and Gillian booked me after they met me at Matt and Owain’s London wedding. I thought of it today, as the carol Oh Holy Night came on the radio. During the Church service, one of Nadim and Gillian’s friends did a rendition of the song that was so beautiful I might have cried a bit… it’s been one of my favourite carols ever since.

“We adore our pictures”

Nadim told me “we adore our pictures and think you did the most wonderful job, on the day itself but also before and after. We have already recommended you to plenty of people! The pictures are fab and we are so grateful to you!”.

“No pressure for this to be the best day of our lives”

Gillian and Nadim met in May 2010, as former graduates of The Royal Academy of Music. They became friends, but it wasn’t until they worked together later that year at Phantom of The Opera that they became close. By November 2011 they were officially a couple.

They told me that they were most looking forward to celebrating their winter wedding with friends and family. They were already proud parents to a beautiful baby girl, so there was no pressure to have the best day of their lives, they just wanted to celebrate their love, and have an incredible party.

A relaxed day at St Marylebone Parish Church and The Waldorf Hotel

From laid back preparations at The Waldorf to an emotional ceremony with beautiful performances at St Marylebone Parish Church, Nadim and Gillian had a beautifully relaxed day. With two classic London venues, Nadim and Gillian wanted their day to represent traditional London. The whole of their wedding took place in the heart of the city.

Winter light and Routemaster busses

After a moving church ceremony, guests jumped on Routemaster buses and headed back to the Waldorf. While they did so, Gillian, Nadim and I hit the streets of London. As they met at The Royal Academy of Music, it made a meaningful backdrop for some portraits. After hanging out in some beautiful winter light, we headed back to Aldwych so they could get their party started. After afternoon tea with guests and some emotional speeches, Nadim and Gillian kicked off their party with their first dance.
