Matt and Ian’s joyful Camden Pub Wedding at The Prince Albert, with an amazing Star Wars rainbow cake
If I’m going to work on my birthday, which I often do as my birthday is at the start of May (so during wedding season!), my biggest hope is that it’s a relaxed and fun day. Luckily Matt and Ian’s Camden wedding definitely ticked that box, as well as being at one of my favourite London pub venues, The Prince Albert.
A Tinder meeting and a pub first date
Ian and Matt met on Tinder and their first date was in a pub. They told me that what they were most looking forward about their wedding day was exchanging vows, popping some prosecco, cutting their (totally amazing!) Star Wars rainbow cake by Cat Food Cakes (with beautiful blooms are by Alright Petal) and then dancing the night away.
You can read more about Matt and Ian’s wedding day at the bottom of the post. If you want to check out other weddings at The Prince Albert you’ll find Ingun and Ronnie’s wedding here, and you’ll find all of my pub weddings here.

On the day of Matt and Ian’s the wedding, I arrived just before their guests. Matt and Ian wanted coverage for part of the day and having shots of them getting ready wasn’t important to them. I am always really happy to tailor my coverage to my couples and their needs. It’s your wedding day and I’ll cover as much or as little of it as you want me to.
A Prince Albert Pub Ceremony
I’ve never shot a wedding ceremony at The Prince Albert before, only a wedding reception. It was a really lovely space for a ceremony. As pubs go it has really lovely light from big windows on all sides of the building. After an informal and lovely ceremony conducted by Camden Registrars everyone enjoyed a glass of prosecco while I whisked Ian and Matt away onto the streets of Camden for some unobtrusive and creative portraits. After a casual drinks reception, everyone sat down to dinner and this was followed by a pub quiz!
An amazing cake and beautiful flowers
The beautiful flowers were colourful and unstructured and were provided by the excellent Alright Petal. The cake was totally epic. The Star Wars / space theme was perfect for a May The Fourth wedding and when Ian and Matt cut into it, it had a rainbow in the middle to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride. The cake was made by Cat Food Cakes who also makes the most amazing subscription cake boxes. Definitely worth checking out if you fancy a sweet treat.
